Mooring winch

The Marine Mooring Winch is a deck machinery solution purpose-built for managing, holding, and storing mooring ropes on a single drum during vessel berthing, docking, and station-keeping operations. By winding steel wire rope or synthetic lines onto the drum to generate pulling force, the winch functions in manoeuvring, holding, and storing modes to ensure a vessel remains safely secured to quays, platforms, or buoys. Mooring winches are available in electric, hydraulic, and steam-driven configurations, and can be classified as automatic (with built-in tension control to compensate for tidal variations, wind, and cargo-induced load changes) or non-automatic. The rated line pull typically ranges from 5 kN to over 3,000 kN, with drum capacity and line speed tailored to specific vessel types and operational requirements. As a critical part of the ship’s deck equipment, the winch is designed and manufactured in full compliance with international standards such as ISO 3730, ISO 9089, GB/T 4446-2025, and certified by major classification societies including CCS, ABS, BV, and DNV.
