What makes a casting crane different from a standard double girder overhead crane?

A casting crane is purpose-built for handling molten metal. It features dual-drive hoisting (one drive completes the full cycle if the other fails), triple-redundant braking, heat shielding under the main girder, H-class insulated motors, steel-core wire rope (fiber core is excluded), and an insulated, pressurised cabin — none of which are required on a standard overhead crane.

What structural configurations are available for casting cranes?

Two main configurations: double-girder double-rail (QDY model, 5–74 tonnes) for smaller foundries, and four-girder four-rail (YZ/YZS model, 75–550 tonnes) for integrated steel mills. The four-girder design deploys independent main and auxiliary trolleys for coordinated ladle lifting and pouring with maximum structural stability.

What work duty can a casting crane achieve?

A7 to A8 (ISO), designed for continuous multi-shift operation in steelmaking environments. All motors are H-class insulated, and the entire crane structure is engineered to withstand the radiant heat and thermal cycling of molten metal handling.

What safety redundancies are built into a casting crane?

The main hoist uses a dual-drive system — if one motor or control circuit fails, the other independently completes the lift. Braking is triple-redundant: dual working brakes on the high-speed shaft plus a safety disc brake directly on the drum. The cabin is fully insulated and pressurised, and the main girder is protected by a heat-insulating layer.

Are casting cranes customised to each steel mill's specific requirements?

Yes. Every casting crane is a custom-engineered machine. Ladle capacity, span, lifting height, trolley configuration, control method, and safety features are all designed to match the specific converter layout, furnace type, and production throughput of the client's facility.
